Gullett Gazette 4.17.22

Dear Gullett Families,

I hope all of you enjoyed the 3 day weekend and were able to spend some quality time as a family. Our staff was busy at work on Friday, but we were able to take a much needed midday break for bowling and lunch thanks to our terrific PTA. Work hard, play hard! We all enjoyed the time to connect with others in the school we don’t normally get a chance to see in our day to day.  If you were able to make it up to school on Saturday, then you were treated to a wonderful event as we dedicated the library to our former librarian, Ms. Kay Gooch. It was wonderful to see our community together and to celebrate this Gullett legend!

This week I will be hosting “Good Evening, Gullett'' at 5:30. The topic will be campus safety, and I will also be discussing the Human Sexuality and Responsibility curriculum. There will be a survey sent to families as well for their feedback and lessons will be taught in November/December of next year. These topics will also be addressed by our Campus Advisory Council on April 27th at 3:30. Our last “Good Evening, Gullett'' will be on May 19th at 5:30. That evening we will be discussing the upcoming school year and also jointly presenting with PTA about both the school and PTA budgets.

As a reminder, any events that happen on campus grounds must be approved prior by the principal. This includes any items to be distributed as well as informational fliers. Parents and visitors are highly discouraged from wearing costumes to campus unless approved prior as well. All visitors on campus between 7:40 and 3:10 must sign in at the office with their driver’s license or official identification and receive a visitor’s badge. Any adult on campus without a badge will be asked to sign in at the office or will need to leave campus grounds. .

There is so much happening here at Gullett! This Thursday, April 21st our staff will host our volunteer luncheon. Please join us if you have volunteered your time or expertise this year. Lunch will be served in the gym from 10:30-12:30 and teachers will be joining our volunteers during their regularly scheduled lunchtime.

On May 6th, we will welcome back our Art Show, and on May 16th we will also begin a new tradition of our Gullett Cultural Heritage day. Please consider participating as it will be a wonderful opportunity for us to build community as we learn more about each other.

I am still amazed at how fast this year is flying by! I am grateful everyday to be part of our community. Our students, staff and parents make Gullett a wonderful place to work and learn. Thank you all!

Sincerely,

Tammy Thompson

Proud Principal, Gullett Elementary
